If you want on the fly protection I recommend Yadis, Yadis is a nice tool which monitors file changes on your documents and pictures and copies them when they are changed In case I delete a file or save a wrong file and loose my data, it is not immediately synchronized to OneDrive but only when the Sync-back Free backup starts and deleted files are kept for 90 days. It also has a feature to remove files from OneDriveafter a number of days (say 90). Syncback free has a backup mode which never "Synchronizes"files from OneDrive to My Documents. I took a different approach and kept my Documents and Pictures in my profile folder. when did OneDrivefail? who knows?Ĭopy all your old Documents to the new OneDrive location skipping all duplicates? No only the same ones. YOU have to figure out with tools like Duplicate cleaner if the latest files you have created or updated are already on OneDrive. OneDrive is not very clever and downloads ALL your files again while they are already on your PC. ending up with a full duplication of all your files. You have to select a different base folder for OneDrive than the previous Onedrive installation. All new files you created and were not synced into OneDrive will get lost or renamed with the name of your Computer in the Filename. you have to reinstall it, OneDrive makes the wrong assumption that the file situation in OneDrive Cloud is the right situation. If you do and someone like yourself deletes files from the OneDrive Website. If you use onedrive to backup files do not store your original files in Onedrive!!! Well Onedrive is not a backup tool it is a synchronization tool. Onedrive is the Microsoft way of backup files.
